Grand Canyon Whitewater will launch their first rafting adventure of the 2011 season April 5th. We are so excited! The April 5th Grand Canyon raft trip is an incredible one too! We are hosting a trip for a group of people from the program, Native Voices on the Colorado River. Native Voices is a cultural interpretive program for Grand Canyon rafting companies designed to increase understanding and communication about the relationships of tribes affiliated with the Grand Canyon from their own perspectives. Each tribe, including Havasupai, Hopi, Hualapai, and Navajo, is given a chance to identify the information they would like river guides and their passengers on Grand Canyon rafting tours to know. The program helps river guides understand, and in turn relay information regarding tribal interpretations of Grand Canyon.
It is a really cool program and we are honored to host a trip to contribute to the Native Voices program. You can learn more about the program by visiting Native Voices online. This April Colorado River raft trip will allow the Native Voices program members to prepare information to present to river guides for continuous learning for the upcoming river seasons.
