We are thankful to report that all of our trips currently on the river have checked in, and all crew and guests are doing well following the flash flood on Saturday, August 29, in Bright Angel Canyon. None of our trips were in the immediate area when the flood occurred. We have been in satellite communication with each of our crews on the water, and they have all been briefed on the situation and are continuing our trips as planned. We will send them updated information as it becomes available.

Immediately after the event, National Park Service (NPS) staff briefly closed the river to assess the condition of the main river corridor. On Sunday, August 30, NPS staff reopened the river, and we have resumed operations. All upcoming trips are running as scheduled. If you’re on an upcoming trip and have additional questions, please reach out to us directly.

We continue to stay in close contact with NPS staff, our guides on the river, and other Grand Canyon outfitters to keep each other informed.
