As Grand Canyon Whitewater is given a new opportunity to provide quality river rafting tours on the Colorado River, we must remember those who came before us. Diamond River Adventures celebrated 2010 as their final year as a commercial river outfitter in Grand Canyon, transferring their contract to Grand Canyon Whitewater. Since the 1970s, Diamond River Adventures and the Diamond family have built an incredible legacy that will be remembered in the Grand Canyon rafting community for many years. The founder, Bill Diamond, was introduced to the Canyon by the Sandersons while he was working for the Bureau of Reclamation in Page, AZ. Bill was guiding his own boat not long after and was completely lured in by the the rafting adventure. Jerry Sanderson and Bill Diamond partnered to form Sanderson River Expeditions until Diamond had the opportunity to venture on his own to create Diamond River Adventures. Bill Diamond, his loving wife Patricia and their family continued to own, manage and guide Diamond River Adventures as a family for years.
