There is no doubt that when people come together on a Grand Canyon Adventure, the opportunity to share increases. That can be good or bad. Good sharing might be……sharing new adventures, talents, stories, sunscreen, games and stuff like that. Bad sharing can be sharing germs, bugs and disease. When you are on your Colorado River Tour your group becomes as one. You become a single unit in many ways. You travel together, you eat together, do dishes communally and, for crying out loud, you camp together. Sharing at its peak!
Because of close quarters for so much of your time, cleanliness counts. Cleanliness rules supreme in all ways and at all times. Your GRAND CANYON WHITEWATER rafting guides are acutely aware of this and have systems and procedures that are designed to keep you clean and safe in easy, common sense ways.
Hand washing is frequently suggested and soap is available. Hand washing stations are set up in camp so that you can get clean whenever needed. Your eating utensils and plates are washed and sanitized before you eat on them, after you eat on them and whenever they are used. A hand wash station accompanies the "key" to the toilet. You can wash before you head for the head and, certainly, you would wash hands after you leave the head.
Common courtesy would suggest that you don’t sneeze and cough on your fellow rafters. Don’t share lip balm or drinks. But sometimes things do get germy. There’s always lots of bleach to sanitize everything and everybody. Super-diligence to cleanliness and appropriate medicines help keep everything under control while on the white water raft trip.
This is a "wilderness" trip. You are out of doors 24/7, camping, climbing and swimming. Mother Nature has things to share with you. As before, some is good sharing and some is bad sharing. Cleanliness always counts.
