Many of our trips offer round-trip transportation from Flagstaff, which means you’ll spend the night before your trip here in the pines. You’ll meet by 6:00 a.m. the next morning in the lobby of our partner hotel to start your river trip. The hotel will have a light breakfast available for you to munch on during the trip so make sure to grab one. They’ll also have the option to do luggage storage for you while you’re on your trip.
You’ll put your duffel bag, alcohol or anything else in the storage compartment in our shuttle bus. The shuttle will be taking you roughly 130 miles from Flagstaff all the way up to the launch point at Lees Ferry; the trip generally takes 2 hours and 30 minutes. You’ll be driving up Highway 89 north through the Navajo Nation and the Painted Desert. Sit back and enjoy the amazing scenery. The bus will make a stop at the Marble Canyon convenience store to allow people to get beer/wine and any last-minute items. Remember, if you think you might purchase something at the Marble Canyon convenience store, keep your wallet or cash with you (not under the bus).
In Marble Canyon, you can expect to see a large selection of canned beer, boxed wine and last-minute items like waterproof iPhone cases or guidebooks. The bus will stop at the convenience store for 15 minutes or so and then head down on a 10-minute drive to the boats at Lees Ferry, where the guides are waiting for you. There you’ll do your first orientation and set off on your river trip!
