Grand Canyon Whitewater partnered with our friends at Ability360 to run a fantastic 10-day Grand Canyon river trip this June! Through us and our sister company, Arizona River Runners, we’ve run multiple trips with people of all sorts of disabilities.
“Traveling the Grand Canyon by way of the Colorado River is a bucket list item for so many people, regardless of ability level. The partnership with Grand Canyon Whitewater and Ability360 brings an unique opportunity for people with disabilities to experience this adventure.” said Gus LaZear, Vice President of Operations with Ability360. We had incredible volunteers, office and warehouse staff, and fantastic guides to help make this trip a reality.
Ability360, located in Phoenix, AZ, is a fabulous organization that offers adaptive sports, employment assistance, recreation, and more. To learn more about Ability360 and their outdoor programs or inquire about going on one of their trips, check out their website.
“Over the last four years many people with different disabilities and conditions have experienced the canyon with this partnership! Individuals with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, low – vision and blind, hard of hearing and deaf, people with limb differences and amputations, intellectual and developmental disabilities, PTSD and more have been a part of our river crew,” Gus said.
We are planning more trips with Ability360 in the future and look forward to sharing the Grand Canyon with all abilities!
