A Grand Canyon Whitewater rafting trip is one of the best family vacations for families with teens. For starters, there is no cell phone service, computer access, television or electronic devices. Wahoo! You’ll actually be able to chat with your teens without them constantly checking in with their friends via Facebook or Snapchat! Secondly, there aren’t gonna be any fights about where to go or what to eat. Once you have launched your rafting adventure from Lees Ferry, you are in for the duration AND the guides will be cooking every meal for you with a set menu in mind. The minimal choices that exist for you and your family to argue about actually make this vacation incredibly relaxing and relieves a lot of pressure from the family.
Also, the Grand Canyon Whitewater river guides are really cool and have a lot of fun while they are on river which, in turn, encourages families and teens to enjoy themselves. You, as the parents, don’t always have to be the host or entertainer — the guides can take care of a lot of that for you.
Often times in the summer months, there will be other young adults and kids on the river trips as well. We typically see that, just like the adults, young’uns will come together on a river trip and really enjoy each other despite personality, age or interest differences that might have separated them in the “rim world.”
