I started my career as a journalist, working at newspapers in the Midwest and the South, before a longing for mountains and canyons and rocks brought me back home to Arizona. I went on my first white water raft trip in May 2011, to write a story for a local tourist magazine. Like so many other people who are lucky enough to see Grand Canyon from its heart, the Colorado River, I fell crazy in love. I nearly cried when I climbed back up to civilization at the South Rim and sat down, the next day, behind my desk. I spent the next few months dreaming of ways to get back down into the Canyon for another rafting adventure.
Fate was on my side and, later that season, I scored a second Colorado River trip and a job with Grand Canyon Whitewater. Now, I spend my time writing about river trips and helping other people make their dreams about running those rapids a reality.
When I'm not in the office, I love to get outside and hike. This region, and Grand Canyon in particular, is overflowing with so many amazing places! I also really enjoy jogging (slowly, very slowly), wandering around, and looking at neat things. And sometimes I like to take not-very-good photos of those things.
