Lava Falls, one of only two rapids in Grand Canyon named actually called a "fall," like in "waterfall." The most notable feature in Lava Falls is what boatmen call the "Ledge Hole." A bus-sized drop or hole right in the middle of the rapid that should be avoided at all costs. Whether your rafts dodges just to the left of it or veers for the right run, this rapid is sure to be a good time. This rapid is quite a sight – many rafting tours stop before the rapid and hike up to a look-out point to check this monster out. Great photo opportunity! Lava Falls is the finishing touch on most Grand Canyon river tours – it’ll blow you away!
