The best perk of working in the office for Grand Canyon Whitewater is definitely being able to go on river trips. I recently returned home from a 4 day Upper Grand Canyon Trip a few weeks ago and would go again in a heart beat. I find myself missing the Grand Canyon already. My fellow rafters were great people, the guides were exceptional, and the Canyon was stunning as usual.
My favorite part of my Grand Canyon Adventure was the amazing side hikes. I don’t know which hike was my favorite; Saddle Canyon, Clear Creek or the challenging hike out via Bright Angel Trail? They each provided something unique which set them apart. While hiking Saddle Canyon, my new rafting buddy, Howard, and I had a great time trading stories. When we finally reached the waterfall at the end of the canyon we both grabbed for our cameras and started shooting away. Clear Creek was a retreat from the sun. The canyon walls shaded us as we hiked up the crystal clear creek. At the end of the hike we discovered another waterfall, we all took the opportunity to splash and cool off under it. The hike out at the end was epic. As you hike out of the Canyon you are able to gain different perspectives and see all the rock layers up close and personal on your way to the rim.
I can’t wait for my next Grand Canyon expedition.
