Hiking in Grand Canyon is no easy feat. Hiking from the river to the rim is an even greater challenge. It should not be taken lightly by even the most fit and experienced hikers. It is not uncommon for people to overestimate their physical fitness and ability and grossly underestimate the strenuousness of hiking river to rim in Grand Canyon. While we try to find an appropriate trip for everyone who wants to raft Grand Canyon, we need your help in the way of an honest assessment of your ability.
AZ Trailblazers Hiking Club has come up with a simple ‘grading’ system where you can rate yourself as a hiker. See where you fit by grading yourself realistically according to the chart below. If you are planning to participate in an Upper or Lower Grand Canyon rafting trip with GCW, you should be able to give yourself an A or B (preferably B+).
