“My family first did a full river motor trip 14 years ago. This year, my son and I brought 3 others for another white water raft trip. I wanted to introduce/share the river experience with my niece and best friend who are also my Grand Canyon backpacking expedition buddies. We have camped at several “rapid” beaches. It was a blast to see those beaches and rapids from the river – and plan more hikes!
My son wanted to share the Grand Canyon with his girlfriend of 4+ years. He had hiked the Bright Angel Trail twelve years ago while on Spring Break from high school with his sister who was working on South Rim at the time. They stayed/camped at Phantom Ranch. So, we hiked the Bright Angel as part of our rafting trip – he was excited that his girlfriend was hanging in there and really able to enjoy the Canyon! He proposed to her on the hike at Deer Creek – what wonderful photos and memories we all have of that “pose” with the river winding away behind them! River trips are known to be life changing events – this one met that expectation and then some!
And just a note regarding our guides….Brock was very calm. He projects confidences, gives clear direction, says all the right words and is very reassuring. Ron was constantly helpful, very open and share real info regarding geology, history of the Canyon and entertained us with his stories and lore. Clint is a grown-up kid himself. He made contact with the kids on the trip easily and helped reign them in. He is very capable on his rig. Brie is very astute and helpful – she was always right where she needed to be.”
