Mimi went on this trip with her mother and they just had a ball. She also mentioned in her feedback form that she “would have read more of the blog posts to get tips and tricks in advance.” Follow Mimi’s advice by reading GCW’s advice on the blog!
“The crew was phenomenal and worked so well together as a team. They really added to the whole experience and the trip wouldn’t have been the same without them.
Misty, our hiking guide on the climb up the Bright Angel trail was a life-saver. My 69-year-old mom was struggling with the altitude and lack of electrolytes and she gave her some ERG, carried her pack, and chatted with her most of the way up (which took us 8 hours).
The trip is not for the lily-livered and I was so done with the sand and the dryness by the time we tackled the Bright Angel Trail. I would also highly recommend that you keep your pack out as light as possible (you can leave as much as you want at the river as donations or trash) and practice hiking uphill with it at altitude a couple times before the trip.
The experience of the Canyon from the inside is like nothing else and GCW does a fantastic job. I couldn’t recommend you guys [Grand Canyon Whitewater] or the experience overall more highly!!!”
