The Grand Canyon rafting community lost a very special soul, one of a courageous, humble, kind and incredibly knowledgeable man. Tim had a huge impact on many of us during his long career as a Grand Canyon boatman guiding folks down the mighty Colorado River.
I’m positive he will be remembered in countless ways. Tim was one of those kind of guys – even if you don’t know him, you know OF him. I’ve heard lots of people reminisce of the times they spent with Tim, and there is always some fun and entertainment involved!
I, for one, will always remember Tim’s shadow dancing on a Colorado River trip we were on together a few years back. His shadow, larger than life on the Canyon wall, entertained us all as he boogied into the evening. Then there is always his famous pull-start blender! That was always a kick! His joy for life will be incredibly missed.
A very touching memorial piece was written in the Arizona Daily Sun.
Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, stilled missed and very dear.
