"The dazzling beauty did overwhelm my middle-aged aversion to camping. Clearly, we saw what John Wesley Powell saw in the same condition. I don't look at my life in the same way.
Memorable moments:
- The boatmen's calm humor
- Never guessed I would react to being hit by a wall of water and buried to the knees by laughing so hard with a boat mate
- When we came across animal tracks, Jeff said the guides had a 'special flashlight' that would deter the animal….very funny!
- Saw Big Horn Sheep, the Vishnu schist, condors, massive rocks perched precariously in our path… not bored for one second! No leisurely float down the river! Action!
I felt sorry for tourists tied to busses, vans and hotels. I was one of those people before. Thank you, Grand Canyon Whitewater, for enabling me to see what I never could have on my own!! How you get ordinary people like me through this challenging situation and make it look seamless is quite an accomplishment. What a great opportunity you gave me. I am truly grateful to the whole crew and staff! Please tell them thanks."
