Every commercial rafting outfitter in Grand Canyon asks their passengers for a dollar-per-day donation to the Grand Canyon Fund. Many people ask… Why? What is this donation really for?
The outfitters pool the donation money at the end of the river season each year and then allocate it to a variety of groups who support the protection, conservation and research of Grand Canyon. The pooled donation amount has been around $80,000 in the past several years! This support from passengers has allowed the outfitters to donate to groups such as:
Adopt-A-Beach Program run by Grand Canyon River Guides Association
Adaptive Management Program run by Grand Canyon River Guides Association
Grand Canyon Wildlands Council
The outfitters all agree that these are worthy, reputable groups and we are happy to be able to extend your generosity toward these groups. A dollar-per-day: it ain’t much, but added together with all the other river rats, we can make a difference. We thank you for your benevolence.
