Some of the rafts are not that tall but still require some maneuvering to board. At any rate, launching at Lees Ferry is a whole lot easier than hiking in and boarding at Phantom Ranch.Hiking in or hiking out of the Grand Canyon, for some people, is part of the whitewater rafting adventure. It is an invigorating achievement that adds to the over all Grand Canyon experience. That is totally your choice. If you prefer to forego the hiking in or hiking out merely choose a rafting trip that launches at Lees Ferry and ends farther downstream where you can exit the Grand Canyon without hiking.
