“I thought the crew‘s group dynamic was exceptional. Brock seemed to be well respected as a boatman and as a leader, The other boatmen all commented on how much they liked his style of leadership. If any of his “judgement calls” were ever questioned, we were not aware of it, and it was clear that they all got along as crew and as friends. Our four passenger raft boatmen (Bill, Erika, Joe and Matt) were all well attuned to us, to their tasks and especial to sharing their love and respect for the canyon. Supply boatman John was equally impressive and a rare treat around camp. Even (maybe especially) our swamper, Edith, was a true asset. Also, as the oldest individual on the trip, I would like to add that I especially appreciate Brock’s (and the others’) awareness that Linda and I might need occasional help. This was shown without either of us feeling like we were any sort of burden. All in all a class act! We were very fortunate to have a great group dynamic as passengers as well. Everyone pitched in, followed instructions admirably well, and kept the faith even during the (blessedly brief) sand storm and cold rain.”
