Rafting the Grand Canyon is a unique bucket list trip, and what better way to experience it than with a group of your closest friends or family members? We’ve been helping groups plan their adventure for over 50 years and have compiled some helpful tips and tricks below.
Organizing the Group
Group organizers often comment that coordinating a group is like “trying to herd cats!” We understand the difficulties and have designed our process to make it as easy as possible to wrangle your group.
Group Dynamics
Trips run with up to 28 guests and are a mix of singles, couples, families, and friends of all ages. Your group will be joining several other like-minded travelers. Everyone starts the trip with one big thing in common – You all picked a Grand Canyon trip!
How to Book with a Group
Give us a call to let us know which trip you are interested in, and we will place the spaces on a complimentary hold to give everyone a chance to reserve. We need contact information for the group organizer, the trip dates, and the number of spaces you’d like placed on hold.
Invite friends and family to join using your unique group booking link or by calling our office. As a group organizer, you can log into your account to see a list of who has reserved their spots.
Who Pays? One Invoice, Multiple Invoices?
A deposit is required to confirm the spaces. We strongly recommend each party reserve by household so they can purchase trip insurance and be accountable for their own cancellation fees. Please do not pay the deposit for others! You don’t want to be on the hook for any cancellation fees later on. View our cancellation and reservation policies here.
When to Book
Generally, the larger your group and the more limited your dates the earlier you will want to book. For example, if you are looking at filling a trip and only have a few trips that will work for everyone, you will want to call us on opening day for the next season. If you have a smaller group and are flexible throughout the season, you can usually wait until the same year to book. Here are some additional things to consider. For advice on your specific situation, feel free to give our office a call.
Our Best Piece of Advice
If you are trying to plan a group trip and no one is committing, just pick the trip you want and GO! You won’t regret it! We strongly believe part of the magic of the canyon is that making new friends happens quickly and easily. You don’t want to miss out on this trip of a lifetime waiting on others.
