Heck no. We’ve got tons of snacks on our trips, and we expect you to help yourselves you whatever you’re hankering!
So what kinds of snacks do we offer? Well, you might not believe this, but we serve a lot of things you wouldn’t ordinarily think of as the most healthy choices: potato chips, cookies, lollipops, candy bars. We do have some healthier options as well. We bring granola bars, mixed nuts, trail mix, and fresh fruit.
However, we know most people aren’t accustomed to being outdoors, with very little shade, 24 hours a day for multiple days on end. Most people tend to crash pretty hard, when they’re thrown into this very extreme environment. People get tired, they don’t drink enough, and their bodies sweat out all those good electrolytes. So we try to counterbalance this. We try to load you up on salt as much as we can, and we try to keep your energy up with some delicious sugar.
We aren’t trying to fatten you up, we promise. We just want your body to feel good and able to tackle all those awesome hikes while you’re on the river. So do yourself a favor and go for the Snickers bar. The diet can wait until you’re back home.
