“The most surprising boatman on our trip was Ted, our swamper. I had low expectations of him at first, but the guy turned out to be the most charming, entertaining, informative, attentive human. He never missed a thing. Totally observant of every passenger on the boat and what he/she might need. He read great river stories to us on the boat which was so GREAT. Also, I totally trusted him. He understood the river and was great at explaining rock stuff to us idiots. Next time I go, I want Ted to be my trip leader (even though Jeff got 5 stars+++).Ted was able to connect with every person on our trip (ages spanned from 10 to 65 and we came from four different countries). He really made it fun for everyone and worked his a** off too. Go Teddy. Go GO GO
Brie was fantastic with my 11 year old son. Knowing that she was on his back about drinking water, buckling his jacket, etc. made it a much more relaxing trip for me. She also was super patient with all our quirkiness and an extremely competent driver. Love Brie.
As for Jeff……I really appreciated that he made such an effort to take us on some really extreme hikes to places we will never forget. He was really good at planning our time so that we got the most out of our trip. However, he could have nagged us more in the morning about getting our stuff packed back up. He might have been a bit too nice. I think we needed our butts kicked a bit more. I guess it’s a fine line. He was funny too. And always in total control of the boat.”
