I mentioned that we were on our way to the America Outdoors Conference in my previous blog post. Well, we’re back! And we’ve got a lot of great new ideas and projects. Our friend from AZRA (Arizona Raft Adventures) said attending this conference is like drinking a GIANT cup of coffee in the middle of our slower winter season … We agree! It’s like the kick you need to get back into gear and rev our brains up again! We love it. Between GCW and our sister company, Arizona River Runners, we had quite a few attend this year’s conference. Since we have offices in 2 locations and operations in another, it is always a welcome treat when we are all able to get together and discuss the biz.
The PHOTO below is all of us during our annual meeting. What a great crew!
The conference not only included great seminars and a trade show, but also allowed us to really connect with other outfitters both in Grand Canyon and all over the nation.
The PHOTO below is from one of the luncheon seminars. A great crowd of raft and kayak outfitters as well as dude ranchers, horse packers, and mountaineering guides.
In the PHOTO below, we (folks from Grand Canyon Whitewater, Arizona River Runners, Wilderness River Adventures, Hatch River Expeditions, Grand Canyon Expeditions, Western River Expeditions and Grand Canyon River Outfitters Association) discussed river business over Brazilian Churrasco and mojitos at Tucano’s in Albuquerque. This is a great example of why that question, “Why should I pick YOU over any of the other river companies?” is so difficult! We’re all great friends and all run awesome river trips.
All work and no play makes for a dull day… so we like to venture out and at least see a bit of the city. Sarah and I from GCW and others from Colorado River Discovery and Outdoors Unlimited took a walk to the Old Town district of Albuquerque. Very pretty during the holidays!
Bruce and Moira in the photo below (part of ARR/GCW) have been to 25+ America Outdoors conferences! They are still up for all the social events. This year was… “Dancing in Lines, Square and Circles.”
So, there you have it, just a little taste of Grand Canyon Whitewater’s past week in New Mexico. We had a lot of fun, learned tons and are excited to get you prepared for your rafting adventure! Give us a call 800-343-3121.
